Space Templates Overview
Space Templates offer a convenient method to reuse the same source space and configuration for future spaces.
New space templates can be effortlessly created by selecting the 'Save as New Space Template' checkbox during space cloning.
The overview table presents a comprehensive list of all current space templates.
Each space template displays the number of spaces created from it, the most recent usage date, the users who last utilized it, and the recently created spaces associated with it.
How to create a Space Template
Security Notice: In order to mitigate security risks, only Confluence administrators have the capability to create, edit, or delete space templates. Users, even when utilizing a template, can only duplicate spaces and content that fall within their regular Confluence permissions and will still need to possess the 'Create space' global permission to carry out space cloning.
Space templates can be created either during the cloning process of an space by selecting the checkbox ‘Save Configuration as Space Template’ and providing a ‘New Space Template Name'.
Or by creating it from scratch inside the space template overview tab by pressing on ‘New template’
The button will open a modal where you can specify details of the new space template.
Make sure to enter a template name and source space.
Once you are finished, click ‘Create’.
How to use a Space Template
Option 1:
Inside the ‘Space Templates’ tab, you can click on ‘Use’ inside a space template row.
This action will redirect you to the "Clone a Space" tab and automatically choose the space template located in the upper left corner field labeled as 'Select space template'.
Option 2:
Alternatively, within the 'Clone a Space' tab, you can directly choose the desired template. This selection will automatically replace the original space and adjust all configurations based on the specifications outlined in the chosen space template.
How to: Edit space template settings
As a Confluence space administrator you can edit the template settings of existing space templates by clicking on the settings icon inside the ‘Space Templates’ tab.
Doing so will open the template settings edit modal.
Within the template settings edit modal you can change all the settings of existing space templates and click on ‘Save’ once you are done to confirm the updates.
Space Creation History
Clicking on the blue number opens the Space Creation History.
There you’ll get information on what spaces have been created from this template, when and by whom.
