1. Clone Projects & Create Project Templates

1. Clone Projects

Most project templates start from an existing project that needs to be cloned, either fully or partially. Therefore, we have developed a straightforward way to get started with the 'Project Clone' feature.

Step 2 of 3: Customize clone configuration

By default, Project Cloning will replicate all configuration, share schemes, clone components versions & issues and even assign the same users to their project roles from the source project. Read more about cloneable project configuration and project content: 2.1 Project Template Settings & Boards

In Step 2 of 3 you can change what should be cloned, by opting out of some settings or selecting different options.

Confirm with ‘Next’ at the bottom of the modal

Step 3 of 3: Create cloned project & optionally save clone configuration in a project template

Specify the Project name and Project key of the new project.

Optionally, you can select ‘Save configuration as Project Template’. Doing so will additionally create a project template based on the configuration specified in Step 2, making it easily reusable and even possible to allow non-admins to create projects based on this project template. Checking this option will show an additional text field to specify the ‘Template Name’

Click on ‘Create’ to create the project clone and, if selected, the new project template.

Clone History

When projects get created form project templates, the app will store the create history inside the template. In case you do not create a new template from the ‘Project Clone’ feature, the create history will be accessible with the ‘Clone History’ button.

This button will open a modal, that displays the ‘Creation date’, ‘Project key’ and the ‘Creator’ of projects that the app created via the ‘Clone Project’ feature without creating a template.

4. Success message appears and guides next steps.
