3. Permission - Allow non-admins to create Jira projects & Power User


Project templates for Jira allows to enable non-admins to create Jira projects based on project templates.

Each template can have different permission settings.

Permission options:

  • Jira admins only (default)

  • Jira admins and selected groups

  • Any logged in user

Customize project creation permission

  1. Click on ‘3. Allow non-admin user groups to create projects' or on the lock icon in the overview table.

2. Change the permission setting for this specific template
If ‘Jira admins and selected groups’ is selected, a multi-select user group picker will appear.

3. Click on ‘Safe’ to update permission settings for this template

 

Power Users

Power Users will be able to use Project Templates for Jira as if they were an jira-admin.

If you are looking to just grant non-admins permission to create Jira projects based on templates, read the section above.

Power user can

  • Ability to create, edit and delete all templates

  • Update template create permission

  • Adjust app view for non-admins

  • See the full template create history

Power user can NOT

  • Get permission see content that is hidden to them via Jira

  • Influence existing Jira projects/issues

  • Grant other non-admins the power user role.

How to grant user the Power User role

  1. As Jira-admin, click on ‘Add power user’ to open the modal

  2. In the modal, select the user groups you want to grant the Power User role and click 'Select'
